Kunhar: Poem by Hibah Shabkhez

Kunhar: Poem by Hibah Shabkhez

Pouring out of the mountain-nestled crock

Which glimmers green, white and blue in the breath

Of heaven, the simmering river flings

Itself upon rocks, worms through dank crevices,

Seeps, oozes, crawls, through sand and silt that mock

Its sea-yearnings, with conniving devices

Hidden by fey nonchalance as it sings,

Gurgles, meanders, battling drought and death;

And I bless the broken water

Making me whole.
