Invisible Threads : English Poem by Ali Rasheed
Invisible Threads : English Poem by Ali Rasheed
Have you ever noticed
The birds imprisoned in cages
Huge cages, set on roofs
Their life is not beyond the bars
Yet, they are sometimes let go for a flight
But are always bounded to the cage
By some invisible threads
Have you ever noticed the scientists
Always, trying to transcend
The barriers of Space and time
They go to distant stars
They go deep in the oceans
Yet they are always bounded to return
By some invisible threads
Have you our noticed the little boys
Prisoned in their little houses
Prisoned by depression and aggression
Forced by tyrants to give up their share of life
They go out but find themselves in a maze
Feeling odd they hang themselves from the roof
By some invisible threads
Have you ever noticed the men
Bounded by their school of thoughts
Thoughts of race, class and creed
Prisoned in their cultural ghettos
Hating everyone outside their narrow world
They have knitted these boundaries themselves
By some invisible threads
Have you ever noticed yourself
Seeing like a statue of stone
Everything going wrong
Dying for love, but hiding the truth
Dying in your comfort zone
Bounded to intrusion and passivity
By some invisible threads
Have you ever noticed the time
It’s time to blur the boundaries
It’s time to use our wings
And fly away from designated circles
It’s time to attain simplicity and submission
It’s time to use our talons and get refuge
By some invisible threads
